Mission Statement

The purpose of CANCO is to bring together alumni for the goal of creating intercollegiate unity, networking, friendship, and pride for every alumni association in Central Ohio.

History

CANCO was started in 2006 by University of Cincinnati alum Joe Henderson.  Joe got the idea to start a collegiate alumni network in Central Ohio after living in Washington, DC for several years and joining a hugely successful network of over 250 alumni chapters in DC called the Collegiate Alumni Network (CAN).

Like CAN, CANCO is an organization composed of local alumni chapters- now thirteen from around the Central Ohio area. Every month members of these chapters meet for the purpose of sharing information, networking and planning collaborative events in order to make their respective alumni chapters more valuable to their members.

So far, CANCO has sponsored an intracolligiate volleyball tournament and a speed networking event.  CANCO also continues to support individual alumni chapter events by allowing its leaders and members to share information about these events during meetings, through email exchanges, and via the web.  Some chapters have even left meetings with ideas to collaborate on chapter events.

As it continues to build its members and organization's leaders, CANCO will be hosting and sponsoring a variety of programming in the future including ongoing intracollegiate athletic leagues and tournaments, networking events,  civic engagement projects, and professional development activities.
